Thank you to the Arcadia community members that showed up last night for our Strategic Planning Open Forum--we had great discussions about what it will take for our schools to keep getting better! For those in Arcadia who could not make the meeting, there will be hard copies of my presentation and surveys (with QR code) at Arcadia City Hall today. I ask that you fill out the survey only once to help validate our feedback/data. Our next Strategic Planning Open Forum will be at Northeast High School in the HS Library on Wednesday, Oct. 15th. We will meet immediately following the booster club meal for our athletes around 6:45pm. Thank you!

The Lady Vikings Varsity Volleyball Team sweeps tonight at Oswego! The Lady Vikings defeat SCC 25-17, 25-14 and defeats Oswego 25-12, 16-25, 25-18. Great job to our Lady Vikings! The Lady Vikings are 18-8 on the season!

The Northeast High School Football Team will host Oswego for Homecoming on Friday, October 10th! Coronation will take place at 6:30 pm. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm!
The Northeast High School Cross Country Team will travel to Jayhawk-Linn for cross country on Thursday, October 9th!
The Lady Vikings Varsity Volleyball Team placed fifth at the Uniontown Tournament today! The Lady Vikings went 2-2 on the day. The Lady Vikings defeated Crest and Pleasanton and fell to Galena and KCC.

Congrats to our Viking Virtues 6th grade student of the month Salem Groves. Salem's favorite class at the Junior High is History/Social Studies. Salem wants to graduate, go to college and become a nurse. Great job Salem!

The College Algebra class went to Math Honor day at PSU yesterday. We participated in an interesting lesson on sorting algorithms and coding. We then learned about clock arithmetic and error checking bar codes. Finally we discovered how you can subtract by adding using machine coding procedures. After lunch, the students heard a presentation from the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs and Innovation at KSU about her journey from a PSU Math major to a STEM program director at the University of Kentucky and finally VP at KSU to continue developing their instruction and innovation.
Our Junior High art students most recent project has involved studying Victorian Architecture. Mrs. Henry does a such great job with our students that I felt we needed to share a few. Attached are projects from Tandin Kessinger, Reyna Torres, Chelsey Smith and Athena Barry. Great job! Go Vikings!
Baking and Pastry I are learning the importance of certain leavened ingredients during a pancake experiment!
